Strategies for Listening and Acknowledging and supporting your child to feel safe and secure as they share their feelings and thoughts with you.

Coregulation

Coregulation is defined as the ability to provide warm and supportive interactions to children to support them to understand their varying thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Children benefit from adults helping them to connect the dots between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With continued and ongoing coregulation, children learn how to shift that skill of understanding and awareness to themselves- we call this self-regulation.

Problem Solving

Once connected and regulated, parents are posed and READY to give ideas and strategies to their kids to support them to be independent problem solvers! This webinar will focus on the following strategies:

  • Increasing independence with visuals

  • Use of and practicing a pause plan and pause place

  • Activities to help children understand their thoughts and feelings

  • Functional tools for problem solving- putting your child at the wheel for driving the problem solving car
